Help Us Take Back Canada’s Voice

Every mill closure takes more than jobs — it takes a piece of community with it.

Across the country, mills are closing their doors — and with every shutdown, another community loses part of its heartbeat. Families, small towns, and businesses that have built this country for generations are now bracing for what’s next.

This isn’t just about trade. It’s about people, livelihoods, and the future of an industry that keeps our communities standing.

Softwood lumber duties have doubled to 35%. Mills are scaling back. Prices are rising. And without a united voice in Washington D.C, the U.S. Lumber Coalition continues to shape the narrative for both countries.

When supply falls, prices rise.
When prices rise, building slows.
And when building slows, our entire industry loses — from manufacturers and retailers to contractors and homeowners.

That’s why Supply-Build Canada is taking action. We’ve established an ongoing presence in Washington, D.C. to advocate for fair trade, tell the truth about Canadian forestry, and protect the jobs and communities that keep this country building.

But advocacy at this level takes resources. Your contribution directly funds outreach with U.S. policymakers, communications to counter misinformation, and the strategic lobbying needed to keep softwood lumber on the agenda.

This is your industry. Your future. Your voice.

Stand with us today — contribute to the Advocacy Fund and help ensure Canada’s lumber industry remains strong, fair, and heard.

Keep an eye on your mailbox later this month for our Advocacy Fund letter — but don’t wait to stand up for Canada’s lumber industry. You can contribute online today

Supply-Build Canada and Allies Advocate for Softwood Lumber

We Have News from Washington, D.C.

When it comes to softwood lumber, one truth became clear in — no one has been speaking for us.

Last week, Supply-Build Canada led a small but determined delegation to Capitol Hill to change that. Joined by Ken Crockett (Star Building Materials), Corinne Stavness (Western Forest Products), and David Marten (Elevate Government Affairs), President Liz Kovach met with U.S. lawmakers, the Canadian Embassy, and provincial representatives to put a face — and a voice — to Canada’s lumber industry.

For decades, the U.S. Lumber Coalition has dominated the conversation in Washington. But this time, Canadian industry showed up. And the message landed: a fair softwood lumber agreement isn’t just a Canadian priority — it’s vital for U.S. jobs and housing affordability too.

The Canadian Embassy called our visit “valuable and needed” — acknowledging that industry coordination across Canada, and stronger engagement from U.S. partners, will be critical to moving forward.

What’s Next:

The Supply-Build federal team is now working to rally support from U.S. homebuilders, retailers, and housing advocates — turning new relationships into a united front that can push Washington toward a fair deal. This is the groundwork for lasting change — the kind of advocacy that protects your business, your workers, and your communities.

Your membership makes this possible. Every trip, every meeting, every voice we raise in Ottawa or Washington D.C is powered by you. Together, we’re ensuring Canada’s building supply industry is heard where it matters most.
