What happens when building innovation moves faster than regulation?

At Showcase 2027, we’re bringing industry and regulators to the same table.

Moderated by Supply-Build Canada President Liz Kovach and presented in partnership with the Safety Codes Council of Alberta and its Build Forward Alberta initiative, Built to Innovate will bring together building suppliers, manufacturers, innovators, government, regulators and Safety Codes Officers for a candid conversation about the future of building innovation in Alberta.

From new building products and product substitutions to alternative solutions and emerging technologies, the discussion will tackle the real barriers that can slow innovation — including knowledge gaps, inconsistent interpretations and challenges navigating Alberta’s safety codes system.

More importantly, we’ll ask: How can industry and government work together to make Alberta an easier place to invest, innovate and build?

This is a rare opportunity for industry to hear directly from the people working within Alberta’s safety codes system — and for regulators to hear directly from the businesses bringing new solutions to market

About Safety Codes Council of Alberta

The Council is an independent regulatory body made up of industry stakeholders and staff. We were formed in 1993 by the introduction of the Safety Codes Act to deliver programs on behalf of the government of Alberta.

Our Role
The Safety Codes Council (the Council) is a leader in Alberta’s structural and technical safety system. Our role not only makes our province safer but also gives Alberta the competitive edge to build healthy communities and to ensure economic growth and prosperity.
