Location: 3735-8th Street Nisku, AB

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Job Overview: Reporting to the Logistics Manager, as the Shift Supervisor, Operations you will support the Yard Manager to load and unload trucks, packaging, and stackers according to the schedule, organize people in the yard, and provide guidance and train staff.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Supervising staff with loading and unloading of trucks as well as packaging and stacking. Ensuring daily activities comply with operational standards for production, productivity, quality, and customer service.
• Organizing, monitoring, and maintaining workflow and work processes, identifying opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
• Initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
• Communicating job expectations to staff and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results to achieve assigned results.
• Coaching and counseling, where required to support staff and maintain performance standards.
• Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, production standards, policies, and procedures.
• Establishing and enforcing standards to maintain quality.
• Ensuring equipment is maintained and operating in good order, reporting breakdowns and/or repairs to support planning.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on equipment, resources, and maintaining compliance with established Star policies.
• Assisting with feedback to the Yard Manager on staff’s performance management.

Essential Requirements:
• Completion of High School Diploma.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a lumber yard or warehouse.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Comfortable using office equipment and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint).
• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervisory experience is an asset.
• Certification in First Aid and Forklift (truck) Licence are an asset.
• Knowledge of BisTrack, Site Docs and warehouse management system are an asset.

Working Conditions: You primarily work in a manufacturing plant environment. Schedule is based on shift work and may include weekends and occasional overtime. Work has exposure to noise and wood dust from equipment/machinery and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
