Swan Valley Co-op is hiring an Estimator at our Home and Building location in Swan River. This person will provide estimates for Swan River, Manitoba and surrounding area. The role is intended to be on‑site. Hybrid work may be considered based on operational requirements and the candidate’s ability to meet on‑site commitments as needed. Some travel will be required.

What you’ll do: The successful candidate will provide estimates, consultation and advice to both internal and external customers for building projects by interpreting client input, documentation, specifications, and design drawings to determine the costing and selling price associated to the building materials and manufactured components of the project. Core duties will include, but are not limited to: Cost estimates for building projects – i.e., houses, garages etc. Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer aided drawings and provide customers with estimates outlining the overall building material requirements. Make necessary calls to establish, complete and follow through on estimates with customers to maximize sales. Provide product recommendations to improve design quality, efficiency and structural integrity as needed. Positive attitude and proven ability to work with the team in a culture of sales and service. Develop and maintain relationships with Contractors, Architects, Engineers, Building Inspectors, Draftsperson/Designers, Material Vendors, Trades, Local Coops, Local Home Builder/Contractor Association(s), DIY customers, and stay abreast of industry trends. Help customers/contractors with all their building needs instore and onsite locations.

Who you are: You are looking for a career in Retail Operations and: Must have knowledge of the building materials industry and products. Must have thorough knowledge of cost estimating. Ability to read and interpret constructions plans and blueprints. Be a team member with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Have a commitment to quality and an eye for detail. Possess the appropriate computer skills and technical knowledge. Have a class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel as required. You’re honest and trustworthy, results-oriented and strive to be the best in what you do. You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives. Experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.
