Location: 3735-8th Street Nisku, AB

Hours: Daytime shifts, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. You must be able to work at least 24 hours a week to start with gradual movement to FT when business requires based on the Truss production schedule, which is provided to employees one week in advance. Our business is open 7 days/week (Monday to Sunday) and requires flexibility to schedule daytime shifts, on different days of the week. Training will be provided.

Job Overview: Reporting to the Production Manager, as the Manufacturing Labourer you perform general labour and provide support to the Production team while ensuring cleanliness and organization of the plant.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Completing basic carpentry tasks, assembling trusses, and properly securing materials. Inspecting finished shipping packages for accuracy and quality.
  • Ensuring wood is cut according to specified dimensions and angles.
  • Examining work orders to determine equipment set up and procedures to be used.
  • Building and stacking pony walls on skids and banding bundles with steel strapping.
  • Operating diesel, electric or propane powered forklifts to safely move goods.
  • Supplying production area with feedstock materials.
  • Inspecting and maintaining equipment, and reporting any major mechanical problems.
  • Working safely and complying with Qualico’s Safety Program and relevant safety regulations.
  • Providing support to other projects or duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements:

  • Completion of middle school, must be able to read and write and perform basic math.
  • Minimum 3 months of general labour, manufacturing or construction-related experience, but training will be provided.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and situational awareness of physical work environment.
  • Comfortable and able to frequently kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing 40 lbs.
  • Available to work 24 hours per week based on the Truss production schedule, daytime shifts, various days of the week.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using a variety of tools such as nail guns, saws and banding machines, is preferred. Previous forklift experience is an asset.

Work Conditions: You primarily work outside. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
